Last week, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released updated Federal Poverty Level (FPL) standards for 2023, which are used as eligibility criteria for programs such as Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). For a family or household of four living in one of the 48 contiguous states or the District of Columbia, the poverty guideline for 2023 is $30,000.

The “Removing Roadblocks to Revenue” webinars begin on Thursday, February 2, and run every Thursday in February, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., EST. More than 30 million Americans are now enrolled in Medicare Advantage programs, according to new data released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The third annual Home Care Pulse Growth Summit will begin on February 15 and 16. The virtual event will feature home care leaders sharing their knowledge, experience, and advice on the industry and expectations for 2023—including HCAOA’s CEO, Vicki Hoak.

The Illinois Department of Labor shared the following media release about New Laws Taking Effect in 2023 Impacting Employers, Employees.
All home care agencies in Alabama are invited to participate in a discussion on February 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. about the formation of an Alabama State Chapter of the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA).
HCAOA and partner Careswitch have created a four-part series of informative webinars called Removing Roadblocks to Revenue. These webinars are specifically designed to help home care agencies overcome obstacles and build their businesses. The webinar series is offered to HCAOA members at no cost as a benefit of membership.
Last week, the Homemaker Companion Task Force unanimously approved its final report and transmitted it to the Aging and General Law committees of the Connecticut General Assembly.
This week, the Aging Committee voted to introduce a bill to implement the recommendations in the report. The report will be considered by the legislature and any legislation implementing its recommendations will be subject to public hearing, debate, and approval. ![]() HCAOA has retained the services of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney to represent the organization and HCAOA members on federal legislative and advocacy initiatives. A national, bi-partisan advocacy team with extensive government relations experience, HCAOA‘s team at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney will be led by Michael Strazzella. Strazzella discussed advocacy plans with the HCAOA Board during a recent strategic planning session. Strazzella has experience in federal government relations, legislative strategy, political action committees, coalition building and more. His practice is focused on the health industry. Adept at navigating relationships, Strazzella works closely with Congress and the Executive Branch—including the Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, U.S. Customs—to create effective lobbying strategies. The HCAOA Washington Chapter has an open seat for Secretary on the Chapter Board, as well as positions on the Chapter Legislative Committee.
